Our Purpose

Everyone at Anglo American is guided by our clear purpose: we are re-imagining mining to improve people’s lives. Mining has a safer, smarter future – a future where you may barely notice some mines at all. We are increasingly using remote or automated technologies to keep all our people safe and we are planning for a future where new mines are being developed out of sight and deep underground – to reliably and responsibly provide many of the precious metals and minerals our modern society needs for improving living standards and food security in a cleaner, greener and decarbonising world.

Essential to modern life

Our products are essential ingredients in smartphones, EVs, household appliances, solar panels, data centres and wind turbines. They build our homes, offices, railways and airports and feed a healthier and growing global population. Simply put, our products move the world towards a more sustainable future – these are future-enabling products.

Anglo American is working to make this future a reality – combining integrity, creativity, and smart innovation, with the utmost consideration for our people, their families, local communities, our customers and the world at large – to better connect precious resources to all of us who need and value them. For the past 100 years and more, our employees have led from the front.

Today, we are leading the industry forward again by finding new ways to source, mine, process, supply, move and market our products. Using less water, clean energy and more precise technologies, we are working to reduce our physical footprint for every unit of metal or mineral.

Together with our partners, we aim to help build brighter, healthier, and safer futures in the countries in which we operate and ultimately for billions of people around the world who depend on our products to improve their lives every day.

Anglo American is a global mining company that produces essential metals and minerals for modern life, including diamonds, copper, platinum group metals, iron ore, and crop nutrients. They are committed to sustainable mining practices and improving people’s lives through their operations and community engagement.

Anglo American operates a diverse portfolio of mines, processing plants, and exploration projects across the globe. They supply metals and minerals used in various industries, including construction, technology, energy, and agriculture.
